The DQOA/DQOC Annual Meetings are held each year and Conventions are held every other year in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with fellow Dairy Queen operators, exchange ideas, learn more about the DQ business, increase profits and participate in your association and cooperative business. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
We understand that Covid-19 is an ever present concern and wanted to keep you updated in regards to the convention. As you know there are many reports about Hawaii and most reports pertain to Oahu. We are continually monitoring and leaning on the Mayor of Kauai and the Hyatt Regency management to provide us additional local detail. At this point we are continuing our plans for a fun and successful Kauai 2021 convention.
With that in mind there are several items that will help you in planning a great visit to Kauai:
1. Currently all passengers arriving into Hawaii will need to pre-register on the Hawaii Safe-travel app/website at https://travel.hawaii.gov. It is a simple method to pre-register before you arrive. It will ask you for vaccination details and also to complete a health survey the day before you travel. Children 5 years and older would be added to the parents record.
2. Island transportation- A rental car shortage created last year has made it a little more necessary to plan ahead. There is a new shuttle provider that services Kauai, Polynesian Adventure Tours. They have reasonable pricing from the airport to the Hyatt Regency. They also offer an island shuttle to get to and from the hotel to other parts of the island on a daily basis. Their website is https://www.polyad.com/tour-destination/kauai/ where you can check out all of their options. They also offer day trips if you are interested.
If you want to rent a car for your entire stay, it is advised to make that reservation as soon as possible. One thing to consider to help with the car rental shortage is to rent a car only for the days you will actually use it. There is an Avis desk at the Hyatt Regency. It may not be possible to make a reservation for that location on the Avis.com site but you can call directly at 808-742-1627. Often World of Hyatt members get a discount as well.Kauai also has a website dedicated to transportation information and options. Visit www.GetAroundKauai.com for additional information.
